Our History

The history organization began in 2000 with the acquisition of the photographs of long time area photographer, Bill Friend, and became the Plant City Photo Archives. The mission became the preservation of the community’s history and heritage through the collection and preservation of the community’s photographs and documents, and developing the stories wrapped around those images. By 2010 the organization became the Photo Archives and History Center and focused on the preservation of the history and heritage of community’s within the Central West Florida area, with the initial concentration on the greater Plant City area, and added a History Center and library and expanded it’s collections and archives of papers and documents from area clubs and organizations.
